Intellectuals Present, Invited Guests, President of South Sudanese Students Union and the Executives of the leadership, and all the deputy leaders being sworn in today, Good Afternoon in the name of South Sudan.
My name is Machiek Machiek Akuocpiir, an undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Software Engineering at the International University of East Africa.
Allow me to talk to you in this beautiful day of our gathering as a Student Union body; especially, concerning the important roles that student youths leadership plays in shaping our society, specifically on three key points:
1. competitiveness,
2. virtue,
3. greatness,
4. and formation of new intellectual and elite organization.
Firstly, let us consider spirit of competitiveness. In today's fast-paced and ever-changing world, the ability to be competitive is crucial for success. As young leaders, we must constantly strive to improve ourselves, hone our skills, and work harder than ever to stay ahead of the curve. By doing so, we can not only achieve our own personal goals but also help our communities and the world at large. We must embrace healthy competition as a means to drive innovation, excellence, and progress.
Secondly, let us consider the importance of virtue. As young leaders, we must lead by example and uphold high moral standards. We must be honest, respectful, empathetic, and compassionate towards those around us. By practicing these virtues, we can create a more just and equitable society and earn the trust and respect of our peers and elders. We have learned these qualities in all great leaders of the world.
Henceforth, In a world where values seem to be increasingly overlooked, it is up to us to set the bar high and demonstrate the power of integrity and morality.
Thirdly , let us consider the idea of greatness. As young leaders, we must aim for nothing less than greatness in all that we do; not in a bad faith, but in good faith and intentions. We must have the courage to dream big, take risks, and push beyond our limits. By doing so, we can achieve greatness not only for ourselves but also for our communities and the world at large.
We must strive to leave a positive legacy that inspires future generations to follow in our footsteps, whether in diaspora or in our own country.
Lastly, I would like to propose the establishment of an international, intellectual ,and elite organization for young leaders in South Sudan. This organization would serve as a platform for us to share ideas, collaborate on projects, and learn from one another. It would also provide opportunities for us to engage with experienced leaders and mentors who can offer guidance and support as we navigate our leadership journeys in all parts of the world where we stay as South Sudanese.
I hereby, call upon our fellow intellectuals, writers, social scientists and elites in general, to join hands with me to establish this great organization entitled; as the “International Organization for South Sudanese Elites & Intellectuals”. Which shall operate as “The Will of Elites & Intellectuals” in all regards.
In conclusion, youths and students’ leadership is critical for shaping the future of our society, and we must embrace competitiveness, virtue, and greatness as our guiding principles in the 21st Century era. By coming together as a community through an intellectual and elite organizations, students’ unions such as the South Sudanese Students’ Union, we can create a more supportive and collaborative environment that empowers us to achieve our full potential, as leaders.
Hence, by all means, dear fellow students, compatriots, executives and our deputy leaders being sworn in today, in the leadership of our Students’ Union; always “Be the Upright Intellectual Leaders in South Sudan", in your own rights from today, to time immemorial and for the betterment of our great nation that we deserve.
Thank you.
